Jessica Losier is a Masters candidate concerned with questions regarding the experiences of immigrants and refugees and social inequality. Her previous research looked at the socio-cultural integration of temporary Guatemalans workers under the Temporary Foreign Worker Porgram in the rural city of Rougemont. Currently, her research focuses on the resettlement of refugees in the city of Gatineau in the Outaouais region of Quebec. She is working with a group of forty Colombians who were refugees in Ecuador for a period of two to three years. She will be analyzing the repercussions of the significant social and economic discrimination they experienced from the moment they left their respective households to present, and she will illustrate how this might have affected their integration and settlement capacities in Canada.
