En juin 2015, un appel à propositions avait été lancé pour des projets portant sur les thèmes nationaux de recherche de VVP. Un soutien était offert pour des projets initiaux de recherche menant à des projets de plus grande envergure et interrégionaux pour lesquels des sources de financement externes seraient recherchées. Les recherches devaient avoir une composante de politique ou pratique, et l’éligibilité était estreinte aux projets menés par des collaborateurs ou partenaires de VVP. Les résultats de ce concours sont maintenant disponibles. Le nombre et la qualité des soumissions furent au-delà des attentes. Vingt-neuf propositions ont été reçues et sept vont recevoir du financement, une de plus qu’il était prévu originellement étant donné l’excellence des soumissions. Le comité de sélection était composé de Chedly Belkhodja, Meyer Burstein, Victoria Esses, Jean McRae et Reza Shahbazi. Les sept propositions retenues sont :
In June 2015, a call was issued for projects bearing on the P2P’s national research themes. Support was offered for initial research projects leading to larger, cross-regional projects for which outside funding would be sought. The research was required to have a policy or practice component, and eligibility was restricted to projects led by P2P collaborators or partners. The results of the competition are now available. Both the number and quality of submissions exceeded expectation. Twenty-nine proposals were received and 7 are being funded, one more than originally planned owing to the excellence of the submissions. The selection committee comprised Chedly Belkhodja, Meyer Burstein, Victoria Esses, Jean McRae and Reza Shahbazi. The seven successful proposals funded are listed here.
We would like to thank the many research teams that responded to our call for proposals. We regret that we were unable to fund more submissions but hope to hear from you again in the future. The successful launch of our initiative encourages us to make the call for proposals for our National Themes an annual event. Five proposals were accepted by our evaluation panel comprising Victoria Esses, Michael Haan, Julie Drolet, and Meyer Burstein. The five successful proposals funded are listed here.
There has been great interest in the health of immigrants to Canada and other immigrant-receiving countries because of the large flows of immigrants to those countries and the fact that the wide range of source countries provides great variation in immigrant characteristics and experiences. This has led to a voluminous body of work that has considered health status, health service use and health-related behaviors of immigrants, usually in comparison to non-immigrants.
Il existe un grand intérêt pour la santé des immigrants au Canada comme dans d’autres pays accueillant des immigrants étant donné les flux importants d’immigrants vers ces pays et le fait que l’éventail des pays dont ils proviennent est large et présente donc de grandes variations dans les caractéristiques et expériences des immigrants. Cela a mené à de nombreux travaux examinant l’état de santé, l’utilisation des services de santé et les comportements en matière de santé des immigrants, souvent en comparaison avec les non-immigrants.
