We are excited to announce that this year’s keynote speaker for the Pathways to Prosperity National Conference is Jennilee Austria-Bonifacio. After working in multiple school boards as a school settlement worker, public speaker, and community-based researcher, Jennilee founded Filipino Talks—a program that builds bridges between educators and Filipino families. Her work with over 1200 Filipino newcomer youth inspired her debut novel, Reuniting With Strangers, which was a finalist for the Jim Wong-Chu Emerging Authors Award, awarded a silver medal for Multicultural Fiction in the Independent Book Publishing Awards, named one of CBC’s Best Books of 2023, and was longlisted for the Toronto Book Awards and Canada Reads 2024. Alongside her literary accomplishments, her journey in the settlement sector continues, as she currently serves as the Communications and Program Outreach Specialist at Together Project, an initiative of MakeWay. Born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, Jennilee lives in Toronto, where she is a founding member of Salaysay, a collective of Filipino-Canadian writers whose work spans genres and generations.

The planning committees for these events are working hard to make them engaging and valuable to all who attend. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Workshop and roundtable sessions will be 75 minutes. Workshops should include 3 to 4 speakers, with a strong preference for speakers from more than one organization presenting in the same workshop. They should focus on the themes listed below. All workshops should leave at least 20 minutes for discussion and Q&A. We encourage all workshop moderators to have discussion questions ready for the audience, as well as leaving time for a Q&A session during the workshop. If you are unable to organize a full workshop, feel free to submit your presentation as an individual speaker and we will try to match speakers from different organizations who work on similar topics into a unified workshop.

Roundtables should include two moderators who will facilitate a discussion on a specific topic within the themes listed below. Moderators will be expected to lead off the discussion with an overview of the topic and then provide questions for discussion.

Workshops and roundtables in English and French are invited. We must receive your workshop or roundtable submission by July 29 in order for it to be considered. Acceptance of workshops and roundtables will be announced in August. Please note that all accepted workshop and roundtable moderators and presenters must register for the conference and pay the applicable registration fees.
